Ashton Rose Smith is originally from Knott County, Kentucky. Ashton was a recipient of the Coal Education Development and Resource Scholarship and graduated from George Rogers Clark High School in 2007. Thereafter she attended the University of Kentucky where she graduated Cum Laude in 2011, earning a Bachelor’s of Arts in Integrated Strategic Communications and a minor in Psychology. While attending the University of Kentucky, Ashton was a recipient of the James C. Bowling Scholarship and was a member of Delta Gamma sorority.
Ashton attended the University Of Louisville Brandeis School Of Law beginning in 2012 where she received the highest grade award in Legal Research and Arbitration Practice and Procedure. Throughout her law school career, Ashton worked in law firms and volunteered with the Jefferson County Pro Se Divorce Clinic and the Department of Public Advocacy. Additionally, she externed for Judge Mary Shaw in Jefferson Circuit Court and with the Office of the Commonwealth Attorney. Ashton began working as a law clerk at Ewing & Willis in December 2013. She graduated from U of L School of Law in May 2015 and took the Kentucky bar examination in July 2015.
