Tips for dealing with a ride share accident

Do you use Uber or Lyft or any other ride-share company? If so, you likely use the service because you either don't have a vehicle or need someone to be a designated driver for a night out on the town in Louisville. Either way, do you know what to do if you are involved in an accident as a ride-share passenger? Let's take a look at this topic in today's post.

First things first, remain at the scene. Many people think that because they are passengers in the vehicle they can simply walk away, hail a cab or call another ride share to complete their trip. The police are going to want to speak with you since you are considered a witness to the crash.

Make sure you call 911. There's no guarantee that your driver, the other driver or any other witnesses made the call. It's better to have multiple calls to 911 than none, especially if it is a serious crash that injured a lot of people.

Check on the other people in your vehicle and all others involved. Do this once it is safe and when you physically can. Take pictures of the positions of the vehicles involved and later, of your injuries to share with your personal injury attorney.

It is important that you accept medical evaluation by responding EMTs. If they recommend that you go to the hospital, take their advice. Documenting any injuries will strengthen your personal injury case.

Ride-share vehicles are involved in accidents almost daily in the United States. Follow the tips outlined in this post and you should have no trouble filing a claim if you were injured.
